About Veterans Program

In February 2009, the Union Gospel Mission became a recipient of the Veteran’s Administration Per Diem Program. Through this program, administered by the Dallas VA, veterans who are “formerly homeless or in danger of becoming homeless” are sent to the Mission to live in a transitional living environment for up to two years. UGM is approved to have up to 40 individuals living here at any one time. Since the beginning of the program, there have been between 34-40 veterans living at the Mission at any given time.
