January 4, 2024 – UGM Dallas, the city’s legacy homeless shelter, is stirring the pot as they strive to set the world record in the Guinness Book of World Records for feeding the most homeless people spaghetti on National Spaghetti Day, January 4th. They will attempt to break records by feeding spaghetti to over 1,000 homeless individuals inside and outside of their facility.

UGM Dallas is partnering with their food supplier Ben E. Keith and Hormel Foods to make the event possible. Chefs at both Calvert Place and Center of Hope will be creating delicious mounds of Spaghetti and Meatballs and Chicken Spaghetti.

“Hunger and homelessness are two of the most pressing issues facing our community. But today, we offer a plate of the one dish that brings everyone to the table – spaghetti. From children to the elderly, everyone loves a plate of delicious spaghetti,” noted Pastor Bruce Butler, CEO UGM Dallas. “A plate of spaghetti truly makes you feel young at heart and for one moment – those experiencing homelessness can relive that joy.”

Members of the Chefs Association, the Texas Restaurant Association, Ben E. Keith and Hormel Foods were invited guests to the event. UGM Dallas partners with restaurants for job training and employment opportunities for members of the Discipleship program.
