Also, new communication tools have been created utilizing social media and digital marketing with our partners, The Time Group and ResourceOne, to keep our community partners and supporters engaged in activities at Union Gospel Mission Dallas.

Why refresh the brand? Union Gospel Mission Dallas has a unique opportunity to motivate a new generation of volunteers and donors. The millennial generation prides themselves in finding a purpose in their work and personal lives. Updating our brand and expanding our digital communications will allow UGM Dallas to be in the forefront asking this generation of bright individuals to volunteer at the numerous facilities and in the programs offered, insuring that we achieve our number one priority – to provide a safe and healthy environment for homeless individuals and women with children seeking assistance. Our new brand messaging is a reflection of this renewed priority.

Upcoming events include Days of Sharing where UGM Dallas will offer furniture, household items and clothing from our warehouse on a large scale to individuals, families and other non-profits in our communities. This will assist those in need and provide additional job training space so that we can expand our programs. The 1st Annual William M. Thompson Memorial Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, TX. Then on October 18 th , we will be hosting two movie premier events for the movie “Same Kind of Different as Me”. These events will help raise funds and showcasing the volunteer opportunities available. When Chief Executive Officer Bruce Butler was asked why this work is so important to him, he shared that he has been where many of the clients of Union Gospel Mission are today. “After my parents divorced when I was child, I experienced no lights, no water, little to no food in my home. I eventually went to live with my grandmother and that is where I found stability and structure. I empathize with the homeless population. It was through the grace and guidance of God that my life is better than what it could have been. The homeless population may be invisible to others, but I always see them and can identify with some of the decisions they’ve had to make in their lives. Until you have no food, water, lights, etc., you can’t truly say what you would or wouldn’t do to feed yourself.”
