Dallas, Texas – September 8, 2020 – On August 27th, 2020, Union Gospel Mission (UGM) Dallas hosted An Evening at TopGolf.  UGM Dallas usually hosts their annual William M. Thompson Golf Classic, one of their top yearly fundraising events, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to do so.  Eager to get out and fellowship with their supporters, they decided to host a golf event at TopGolf that was geared towards young adults. Click to View Photos

“The main intent of this event was to connect with and introduce young adults in our community to UGM Dallas,” stated Bruce Butler, CEO UGM Dallas. “This pilot program provided them insight on how they can get involved and give back to their communities.”

For the event, UGM Dallas partnered with Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC) young adults’ group. The Director of Young Adults at PCPC, John Paul Schulze, has been a longtime supporter of UGM Dallas. Thirty-six people attended the event. UGM Dallas would like to thank event sponsors that included: 4imprint, Asian Mint, Burgher Hagghard, Calvary Bible Church, Iconic IT, Kenny’s Italian Kitchen, Mike & Beckie Buwalda and the Money for Ministry Team, Millet the Printer, ResourceOne Fundraising Group, The Time Group

About the Union Gospel Mission Dallas

Established in 1949, Union Gospel Mission Dallas (the Mission) has been restoring lives through the Word of Jesus Christ.  This faith-based nonprofit organization supports individuals and families experiencing homelessness with shelter, food and clothing, as well as a Discipleship and recovery program, vocational job training and development, state-licensed child care services, medical care, transportation, substance abuse prevention, and transitional and permanent housing.

In 2019 the Mission assisted individuals in Dallas County by providing more than 194,749 nights of shelter and serving 586,551 meals.  UGM Dallas also houses 160 veterans in our men’s shelter each month who were previously homeless.  Forty-five percent of the clients who received service from UGM Dallas were first -time clients.    These men, women and children represent the living, breathing embodiment of the grace of change, and the Mission is committed to doing everything possible to transform lives and end homelessness one person at a timer.
