PART TIME LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE (LVN)

We are in search of an LVN with a heart for the medically underserved/homeless to join our team! We are a not-for-profit clinic serving the homeless population in Dallas, Texas  in the heart of the Medical District.  We are a multidisciplinary teaching clinic with plenty of opportunities for professional growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision of the Nurse Practitioner, the LVN will:

  •  manage the Texas Vaccines for Children (TXVFC) and IMMTRAC Programs
  • record vital signs
  • assist with minor office procedures
  • administer vaccines
  • administer medications (oral, SQ, IM, rectal, inhaled)
  • monitor patient during procedures
  • manage lab samples
  • perform minor wound care
  • participate in patient education/health promotion activities
  • document in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • prepare and submit referrals to other clinicians
  • maintain/stock exam rooms
  • adhere to HIPPAA guidelines
  • adhere to infection control guidelines
  • perform basic office duties as needed
  • otherwise support Nurse Practitioner as needed

QUALITIES & SKILLS:

The LVN will demonstrate:

  • strong interest in caring for the medically underserved
  • knowledge of commonly-seen out patient diagnoses, treatment, care
  • knowledge of the TXVFC program (preferred)
  • excellent communication skills
  • excellent organizational skills
  • sound computer knowledge and previous EHR experience (preferably with Athena)
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion

The LVN will maintain/have:

  • Current LVN licensure in state of Texas
  • BLS certification
  • 2 years of experience (preferred)
  • clinic experience (preferred)

SALARY/HOURS:

  • 20 hours per week divided between 2 clinics (2 evening sessions and one afternoon session per week
  • Hourly pay beginning at $20 per hour (contract)
  • No health, dental, insurance, PTO, etc benefits due to contract position
